Building or renovating a house and crunched for time? Get your façade work done in half the time

As building materials and skilled labour become more expensive, construction companies and homeowners are looking not only for aesthetically pleasing, high-quality solutions for façade cladding and insulation, but also for ways to make optimal savings. Costs are often increased as a result of prolonged works. KODERUS, a manufacturer of advanced concrete façade systems, offers an installation speed that is twice as fast as other façade solutions currently on the market. In addition, works can be done all year round.

Both large construction companies developing apartment blocks or commercial buildings and individual homeowners are looking to complete their projects as quickly as possible. Speed saves money, time and hassle.

Concrete panels produced by the Lithuanian company KODERUS include a polystyrene insulation layer. The façade panels, which act as both cladding and insulation, make it possible to avoid additional insulation works and complete the exterior façade twice as fast. Image by KODERUS.

A unique aesthetic at a lower price

The “Koderus 2in1” façade cladding and insulation system has already been used in more than 100 different projects. This advanced system is cheaper than clinker, stone or ventilated façades. Meanwhile, a wide choice of textures and colours makes it possible to create a unique aesthetic at a lower price.

The cost of installing this façade cladding and insulation system using the Company’s standard products is similar to that of choosing decorative plaster, around EUR 80/1 m2, whilst the installation time is twice as fast. Three workers can install approximately 100 m2 of façade in 3–5 days. Reduced working time results in reduced costs. And non-standard products (with cut edges to conceal the seams) cost around EUR 90/1 m2. Let’s compare: when choosing clinker tiles or bricks for façade cladding, the cost of installation (materials and labour) will be around EUR 100–115/1 m². The installation of these panels can be quickly mastered by the professionals working on façades, as the work consists of just two steps: fixing the panels to the building walls and sealing the seams.

Whether completing residential or commercial construction projects or building individual homes, the aim is often to stand out visually. KODERUS can offer as many as 16 different texture options and is constantly exploring new visual solutions. This manufacturer of innovative façade systems also handles individual orders according to specific customer requirements. Custom designs are available. Unique textures can be produced within four weeks according to customer preferences.

Work doesn’t stop even in winter

For construction companies, it is crucial to deliver projects on time or even ahead of schedule. This not only prevents the project from becoming more expensive, but also sustains the market reputation of a reliable, responsible and efficient construction contractor. Meanwhile, for owners of individual homes, the frequent delays in moving in often cause a number of inconveniences, from additional accommodation challenges and costs to mental fatigue. Therefore, a quicker completion of any project is a key advantage of these façades.

The concrete panel façade can be installed even in sub-zero temperatures, so work doesn’t stop even in winter. Miroslavas Jakulevičius, Development Manager at KODERUS, points out that the durability and resistance of the product even at sub-zero temperatures or under extreme temperature fluctuations is ensured by a special production technology. Concrete and polystyrene are bonded together without the use of adhesives, screws or other auxiliaries. The strong adhesion of these materials prevents the layers from peeling off and keeps the product from coming apart.

High-performance concrete panels combined with an insulation layer can be installed at any outdoor temperature, depending only on the temperature requirements of the materials used (foam, adhesive). During the cold season, it is recommended to use special adhesives and to fill and seal the seams properly. If air temperatures are extremely low, work can be carried out with the façade covered to keep the base of the walls dry and frost-free. “Koderus 2in1” panels have been tested under a wide range of conditions, with tests for durability, impact resistance, flammability and other properties. The product holds a National Technical Assessment issued by the Construction Product Certification Centre (SPSC).

Easy maintenance and renewal options

These modern thermal insulation façade panels are designed for future-oriented construction and renovation businesses and private homeowners. For all those looking for efficient, aesthetic, durable, easy to maintain and money- and time-saving solutions in building cladding and insulation.

In both new projects and renovations, it’s not just about the initial result, but also about maintaining aesthetics, functionality and quality over the long term. KODERUS products are characterised by their ease of maintenance and minimal lifecycle costs. The panels can be washed using lukewarm water and equipment with a flow strength of up to 200 bars. Distilled water is recommended as it does not contain minerals.

One of the most important long-term aesthetic advantages of these panels is that they do not discolour. These panels are resistant to atmospheric influences and harsh climatic conditions. Moss does not grow over the panels. In addition, this system has the dual function of not only cladding but also insulation.

KODERUS façade panel colours and textures

This innovative product also makes repairs easier. When corrections are needed, only one panel can be removed without damage to the entire façade. Meanwhile, panels can be easily repainted to renew the building’s exterior or to spruce it up before sale. As a matter of fact, light colours do not change their appearance at all. Dark panels may gradually fade, but this can be avoided by choosing painted panels from the outset, which retain their colour. If repainting or renewal is due, the façade can be refreshed either using spray paint or a roller.

Long-lasting and durable

The Lithuanian company, producing long-lasting, impact- and fire-resistant panels based on a special patented technology, which was awarded the gold medal at the Lithuanian Product of the Year Awards in 2021, is constantly exploring new ways to improve its products and to introduce even more efficient solutions into the market. Work is being done on the composition of concrete mixes, looking for ways to maintain darker colours for longer. A variety of possible installation methods are also being considered. Newly acquired specialised equipment is aiding these efforts.

According to M. Jakulevičius, Development Manager at KODERUS, due to the selection of one of the most durable construction materials, concrete, the panels offered by the company are distinguished by their resistance to environmental influences, impact, fire, and exposure to sunlight. Therefore, the use of concrete for façade cladding will ensure long-term quality durability for many decades. This solution is more sustainable than the “wet” façade popular in Lithuania. In addition, “Koderus 2in1” panels are faster to install and easier to maintain.
